Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Registration

I'm new to Scamper, how do I register?
You can register as an individual, or start a team and gather your friends and family to join the fun! You can register at Packet Pick Up locations or on Race Day.

I registered for Scamper in 2019. How do I register this year?
If you registered last year, you already have a Scamper password. On the registration form, please enter your password from last year. If you don't remember your password, just submit the registration, and click "forgot password" on the next page. Go through the steps to recover your password and activate your personal Scamper fundraising page.

I registered as an individual, but now I want to join or create a team. What should I do?
Log in to your personal Scamper page. In the "Overview" tab, scroll down and click on the tab for "Creating or Joining a Team" and follow the prompts.

Can I register for my friend or family member?
Yes! You can register multiple people at once, but you will need a unique email address for each person in order for them to have a fundraising page and qualify for fundraising prizes.

My friend registered me for Scamper. How do I claim my fundraising page?
Welcome to Scamper! You should have received an email with your log in information. Once you log in, you’ll be asked to complete your Scamper registration and you can edit your page.

If I register for the event but cannot participate on June 21, can I receive a refund or transfer my registration to another person?
Unfortunately, all registrations are final and registrations cannot be transferred to another participant. Your registration does count as a donation to the hospital, so we thank you for your generosity!

I work for a local company and want to get my colleagues involved in Summer Scamper. How do I get started?
We would be thrilled to have your company participate in Summer Scamper. You and your colleagues can form a team! Also, please contact us for more information on becoming an event sponsor.

Fundraising

Can I fundraise for a specific program at the hospital or Stanford University School of Medicine?
YES! All funds raised on your personal page can be designated to your favorite child health program at the hospital or the School of Medicine. If the program you are interested in is not listed as an option, please choose “other” when you register, then contact us to let us know which fund you would like to donate to. If we do not hear from you by June 21, we will direct your funds to the Lucile Packard Children's Fund (which supports the hospital's greatest needs).

Find information about the different programs. Please note all Summer Scamper registration fees benefit the Lucile Packard Children’s Fund, which supports the hospital’s greatest needs.

Is there a minimum amount that I am required to fundraise?
There is no minimum (or maximum) to fundraise, but for first-time fundraisers we suggest starting at a goal of $250. Fundraising prizes also begin at the $100 goal level. Every single dollar makes a difference in the lives of our patients and their families, and we are so grateful for your support.

Do all members of my team need to raise funds for the same child health program?
No, team members may choose different funds and still be on the same team. If you would like all of your team members to fundraise for the same fund, then please remind your team members to choose the correct fund during registration.

When I donate to someone's page, where do the funds go?
Donations made to an individual participant's page will support the fund that the participant has chosen during registration. Donations made to a team's fundraising page will support the fund that the Team Captain has chosen during registration.

Do you have fundraising materials to help me succeed?
We sure do! Check out our fundraising tips for more information. You’ll find some awesome tips, sample emails, and social media posts. If you have any questions, contact us at raceinfo@supportLPCH.org to be connected to a fundraising coach.

How do I update my fundraising page?
Log in to your personal Scamper page. You can click on the "Details" tab to customize your URL and update your goal amount.

How do I track my donations and thank my donors?
When someone donates to your page, you will receive an automated email that says who donated and how much they gave. Log in to your personal Scamper page to see a list of recent donations by clicking on the "Donations" tab. Click the “Thank Donor” link next to the donor's name to post a public comment that will be viewable on your wall and generate an automatic email to your donor. You can also send a more heartfelt “thank you” email to your donors from the “Emails” tab. Click on "Thank your donors," copy and paste our thank you email template into your personal email, click "View Donors," select the donors you want to thank by email, click to copy their email addresses, and paste into your personal email.

I can’t attend early Packet Pick Up on Friday or Saturday. What should I do?

Can someone else pick up my race packet for me?

I have a small child. Can I race with a stroller?

Can I bring pets to the race?
We know your pets are considered part of the family, however, we ask that you please leave them at home during the event. Thank you!

Will there be sufficient aid and medical assistance on the course?
We take the safety of our participants seriously. Water stations and support personnel will be positioned along the course. Plus, our experienced medical team will be stationed at the Start/Finish line. The official race staff is trained to manage any situation that may arise. However, we ask that you help us out by being prepared for the race, so don’t forget to train!

Is this event put on by that fantastic sports management company, Soul Focus, LLC?
We’re so glad you asked, and yes it is. This is our tenth year working with Soul Focus on this event. They work hard to provide you with the best experience on race day!
